Flower Reel
68" X 78"
For my very first bed sized quilt I used Aunt Grace's Fabrics with an on point setting. I wanted the flowers and leaves to stand out, so I lined them with flannel for added dimension. The quilting was done on my Bernina 1230 with feathered wreaths. This was also my first attempt at doing appliqué plus a scalloped border. When I saw a picture of this quilt in "Great American Quilts" - book 2, pattern by Martha Skeleton., I knew I wanted a quilt like that. The only way I could have a quilt like that, is if I made it. It was started in 1995, and took almost 2 years to complete. The only machine quilting I had done before starting this was to make pillows, and a few baby blankets.
