My Sarah Johnson Quilt

89" X 89"

This pieced and appliqued stars and medallion quilt is a reproduction of a quilt I saw at the Shelburne Museum in Shelburne, Vermont, known as "The Sarah Johnson Quilt".  This original quilt was made by then 14 year old Sarah Johnson in 1826.  The pattern I used is by Froncie H. Quinn (www.hooplapatterns.com) from Essex Jct., Vermont titled, "The Sarah Johnson Quilt -no. 1" in The Shelburne Museum Heirloom Series.  It was also published in "Enduring Grace" by Celia Y. Oliver.  This quilt took me over a year and a half to complete and over ten years to collect and find enough of the scarce and out of print mauve and gold border fabric by RJR that was reproduced from the original quilt.
